That was my reaction until I looked at the numbers, which are within the normal fluctuation range for him. Nevertheless, $5 gas prices will be the last straw. I could see him releasing the strategic oil reserve in October.
I do not see why you would call anyone a moron for focusing on the price of gasoline. But then, I (privately) call them morons when they send their kids to public school, where the dumbing down happens and they emerge without the ability to recognize a radical Marxist.
If the calculus turns far enough out of his favor he will throw the Enviros under the bus and agree to build the pipeline. It will make him look like a hero. He was probably planning to do it after the election anyhow.
