Another drug shortage
The Vancouver Sun ^ | 03/10/2012 | Ottawa Citizen

The most recent shortage came this month after Quebec-based manufacturer Sandoz cut production of crucial injectable drugs such as morphine, hydromorphone and fentanyl while it upgraded its facility to satisfy the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

FDA policies are killing people. Their response is to require drug companies to report shortages, which would backfire and cause panic buying.

While bread and other food stuffs were continually in short supply in the former Soviet Union there was a black market that could get you food or illicit drugs for a price.

“FDA policies are killing people.”

Are we sure it’s just policies and not the pockets of some at the FDA?

morphine, hydromorphone and fentanyl

These are old low profit medications, related to eliminating pain. We’ll be lucky if this manufacturer doesn’t simply discontinue these medications and be done with it. Nobody is getting rich off these meds at this point.

Morphine is often used to help terminal cancer patients during their excruciatingly painful last weeks, just prior to death.

So more accurately, the FDA is no carelessly killing people. If anything it is causing human beings to transition to death in the worst imaginable pain.

It is causing still others to experience the worst pain in their lives without relief, before they recover.

Imagine that, under some of the most touchy-feely Leftist assholes in human history, death comes at a price they don’t have to pay.

Two words that are not touched on here, is why hospitals are having to run on such thin margins these days.

There is the ever present sentiment by the federal government, that national health care can be paid for if only hospitals, physicians and other health care providers, will lower their rates further. Each of us has heard Obama and other mind numbed robotic Leftists say, “Providers will just have to make do with less.”

Folks, nobody can provide any service without enough profit to make it worth while, and above and beyond that, enough to keep their physical plant updated and state of the art.

And now those two words.

Illegal aliens. Who know that taking tens of billions out of the health care industry to pay for people’s services that can’t pay their own way, would put additional stress on our health care providers?

Just in time? Thin margins? Dirtier hospitals? Cheaper equipment? Cut rate implant devices? Lower wages? Employees living under a continue threat of layoffs?

Our federal government’s insane policies, coupled by a wave of poor illegal immigrants has contributed to a brutalizing of our health care industry.

And the Republican Congress watches all this, rolls over, and goes back to sleep.

I read these stories knowing they are all about ObamaCare trying to take complete control over drug companies by claiming they are doing a poor job.

Instead of, “Shortages, we all going to die!”, stories, how about some facts, like how much of the drug is actually manufactured?

Seems with you posting one of these stories after another here on FR maybe you are a lift-wing extremist tring to post propaganda against capitalism and drug companies. Sure seems that way.

"...Are we sure it’s just policies and not the pockets of some at the FDA...?"

I wonder: After 30+ years, they "legalized" sugar-substitutes.
