Santorum Strong in Kansas
Rick Santorum looks set for a comfortable lead in the state of Kansas, which holds its caucuses Saturday with 40 delegates up for grabs. "We chased all the candidates out of Kansas!" Santorum said Friday. Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich have skipped the state to focus on Alabama and Mississippi, with their primaries on Tuesday. Santorum is expected to win the state even though Bob Dole, the former GOP presidential candidate from Kansas, endorsed Romney earlier this week.

I do think Gingerich’s debate in Alabama Monday night will boost his chances a great deal in that state and Mississippi.
Thank you for you comments. And also not being low class and petty by thread pouncing and naysaying Santorum and just disrupting as with some kind of sick obsession on this thread. Thank you for keeping it positive. This is in fact a thread written with the intent of not only purveying the news (per FR custom), but also in support of Rick Santorum’s candidacy and his effort in Kansas today, and your good manners and those of others, are highly appreciated. The Golden Rule. Works every time.
The trick to winning the general election is that the candidate will have to be able to win in all areas of the country.
Winning the south means little if you are not favored in the north, east, west, and middle America.
Santorum has shown that he can be liked in most regions, except the northeast. Romneyland.
I hope this gives Santorum some momentum in Alabama and Mississippi this coming Tuesday. If Romney finishes in third place in both of those states, it’ll be a very good night.
Lol. Just got back from the Sedgwick county caucus. They said about 2,000 people showed up.
Romney’s support there was so lousy they didn’t even have a representative available to make a speech for him. So one of the officials there read a boilerplate letter written by Romney boasting about what a great businessman he is and how he saved the Olympics or something.
Newt’s guy (apparently a HS debate coach, hah) made an eloquent and impassioned speech on his behalf. Spoke of how Newt inspired him into conservatism, the menace of socialism that’s storming the country, the historic imperative to defeat Obama, and that Newt is the right man at the right time to do this and advance a vision of liberty. Very substantive on ideas IMO, but unfortunately I wondered if it was ‘too smart’ for people.
Ron Paul’s representative made an alright speech, but there wasn’t much oratory prowess to it. Paul supporters were out in force, and vocal of course.
Karen Santorum showed up, mostly talking about what a good and principled guy her husband is, etc. I wasn’t thrilled by it, since personally I’d rather hear more about the kind of stuff Newt’s guy talked about. But I can see she probably warmed a lot of hearts. I didn’t stop to shake her hand afterwards, but she seemed like a nice person when I walked by.
At my caucus today, there was a speaker for each of the candidates. I don’t remember much about the guy who spoke for Paul other than that he accused all the other candidates of supporting Planned Parenthood. I wanted to boo. Santorum and Newt’s speakers both made good case in support of their candidate but I was irritated that the Santorum guy attacked Newt saying, “We don’t need another philanderer in DC!”. Newt’s speaker, in true Newt style, made a strong case to support his candidate based on Newt’s record and ideas to bring fiscal discipline to Washinton. Some GOP party insider out of Topeka was there to speak on Romney’s behalf and repeated the same BS and lies we’ve been hearing from the Romney campaign make for years. There were Santorum signs everywhere, a couple of Paul signs, but zero Newt or Romney signs. I regretted not ordering a couple dozen to line the sidewalk outside like the Santorum folks had done.
Here’s the results so far. It looks like Santoum is going to take all 40 delegates.

WOW. Rick is over 50% there with 90% of the vote in. 32 delegate win too which ain’t shabby.
GO RICK!!!
And it sure was a substantial win — ANYTHING better than Romulus winning!
Congrats to Santorum.

I agree with you. I support Santorum, but I do not attack Newt in any circles. I agree that it might be time for Newt to throw his support to Santorum, but not because Newt doesn’t have some good ideas, rather because he doesn’t have enough support. Santorum is conservatives’ best chance for the White House.
Thank-you for your gracious post.
Yep. You catch more with honey than vinegar
Anyone, who can afford it, might want to help Rick gain further momentum:
