What the article does not say is that David Gross’s father is an Upshur County Sheriff’s Deputy who was the first to respond to the call. I know this is small news compared to most articles on this site, but David was a good ag teacher and a great man. He deserved better than this.

I’m thinking either a domestic dispute, or he arrived home and was met by an intruder. If it was an intruder and police catch him, it will almost certainly be a death sentence.

He was about to take some students on a trip and stopped by his house to pick something up. He found an intruder in the house. No word yet on who the suspect is. I don’t believe any students were with him at the time.

What I have read from various news sources is that there was NOT an intruder. And they are not releasing any details at all.. Very suspicious. Also concerning they have mentioned that his step-daughter was on her way back from Houston, but have made no mention of his wife’s location. He was indeed in Houston for the live stock show and came back to pick up some additional show animals with the intent of returning to Houston.
Someone also posted that they were told he stopped by his home and saw something “odd” and asked the friend he was on the phone with to call 911. Why didn’t he just call 911 himself and stay back.
And now the Texas Rangers are investigating?? They don’t do that just because someone is a relative of a law enforcement officer!
Will be interesting to see the final details and truth come to light. Lots of innuendos and implications. More Rumors than truth about right now.

What news sources are you mentioning? I haven’t had time to look for more information lately. Could you post the links so I can read them later?

I haven’t read the tyler paper, but all the other news outlets give about the same amount of information: “We don’t know what happened.”

That is the standard response on all them, no new updates at all.
One of the news sources had the district superintendant retract her initial claim that she was told there was an intruder. Not sure now which one had the story.
Seems like the more you look for an answer the less you find.
I see lots of comments on the facebook posts of news events.
Lots of people claiming one thing or the other happened.
only partial truth will be known when either the Texas Rangers release it or more family members get tired of the rumors and post the truth on facebook or news locations.
