A Republican bid to fast-track the Keystone XL crude oil pipeline was defeated by Senate Democrats on Thursday in a vote to amend the chamber's highway funding bill.

The good thing about this is that the Senate was forced to take a stand for the American public to witness - and the public will now know that Democrats will side with the radicals even against the unions.
