LulzSec 'Leader' Turns on Fellow Hacktivists: Feds

Six members of the suspected computer hacking groups affiliated with Anonymous were charged—including the suspected ring leader, who directed the entire operation from a Manhattan apartment complex—after it was revealed one of the group's most high profile members has been working with federal authorities for months.

Hector Monsegur, a 28-year-old American believed to use the name "Sabu" on the internet, was arrested by federal agents last year and has been cooperating with law enforcement ever since, officials said. He pleaded guilty last August, a plea unsealed in federal court in Lower Manhattan today.

At least four of the five other members of the group were arrested recently based on information provided by Monsegur—one in Chicago and three overseas, officials said. Each were charged with conspiracy and at least two will appear in federal court in Lower Manhattan later today.

Federal officials said they expect the arrests to seriously damage LulzSec, an underground group also known as Lulz Security, which is also an offset of the hacking group Anonymous.

Law enforcement sources told ABC News that the six people charged are allegedly among the most sophisticated hackers in the world. The FBI said motives for attacks varied—for example, an attack on credit card companies was based on the refusal by the firms to process contributions to the anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks, and another attack was simply a way of mocking internet security. The investigation began with a tip last June, officials said.

The group and Anonymous have taken credit for carrying out a number of high-profile hacking actions against companies and institutions including the CIA's website, Britain's Serious Organized Crime Agency, Japan's Sony Corp and Mexican government websites. …

When I was researching the Ron Paul types, I also researched Sabu and read a lot of his online postings and articles discussing him. He is certainly of the narcissistic type. Very childish, very destructive, very deceptive and self-promoting. His method of speaking and the images he enjoyed were perverse and satanic, revealing the condition of his soul. He resembles his father, the devil, very well. Lulzsec, the very name itself, suggests mockery and laughter at destruction. He is manipulative and untrustworthy, which is why I am not surprised to hear that he turned on his friends when the Feds cornered him.

It’s unfortunate that this happened this way, as this degenerate will likely be given some kind of a deal for turning in his friends. It is, at least, gratifying to see that they are caught, and it was likely their attack on STRATFOR that led to their demise.

Interestingly, another “hacker”, who hacks Islamist websites, seems to have gotten his name correct, but his country of origin wrong. I recall reading his name listed before, but this individual, another perverse type, thought he was posting from Spain. Maybe the government picked up on that name and, after the attack on Stratfor got them serious, led from there.

Outside of his ugly personality and that name being thrown out before by an anti-islamist “hacker”, and also their popularity amongst the Ron Paul types (though he was hobnobbing on twitter with gay activists and far left types... he had an active twitter account for quite a long time, but I guess the Feds could not track him through it) I know nothing of his personal life.

The movie wasn’t really doing so hot
said the new producer to the old big shot
its dying on the edge of the great Midwest
Sabu must tour or forever rest.

Hey look ma
here comes the elephant boy
bundled all up in his corduroy
headed down south towards Illinois
from the jungles of East St. Paul.

His manager sat in the office alone
staring at the numbers on the telephone
wondering how a man could send a child actor
to visit in the land of the wind chill factor.
Sabu was sad the whole tour stunk
the airlines lost the elephant’s trunk
the roadie got the rabies and the scabies and the flu
they was low on morale but they was high on.
