For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.
I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit?In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone's bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.
My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.
I disagree, also.
Rush did the right thing. It takes a stronger person with class to apologize. The left would have won this battle hands down due to their faux and manufactured outrage. He outfoxed them BY apologizing.
He did it... I’m glad... now hopefully we can we move on to more pressing issues....
like how the damned Democrat left is destroying our country.

OK, fine and dandy, but care to tell us why Rush is critical of the Republicans for doing this exact same thing? He has said time and time again, the republicans greatest weakness is accepting the Dems premise, and going on defense. He says that you never win anything by being on defense.
Sadly, today, Rush accepted the Dems premise and went on Defense. His comments merited NO apology.
Again, please enlighten us as to why it's ok for Rush to accept the Dems premises (and apologize), but not OK for the GOP establishment to capitulate?
Bill Maher is not on ‘the air’ . He got fired from ABC for outrageous comments attacking the soldiers. He is on HBO a paid subscription service.
I gave up HBO years ago because of its liberal programming and my family first got it in 1976 when cable came to my home town.

I've been listening to Rush for twenty years, and I love him, but once in a great, great while it's as though he forgets how to use the language. He's a master of language, but sometimes he can be like a little boy saying, "Poopy." OK, fine, say "poopy," but then you miss the opportunity to make a far stronger point because everyone is focused on "poopy" instead of your core argument.
You know who made a more forceful argument against Fluke? Bill O'Reilly. Of all people! He nailed her on her entitlement mentality and immaturity, and you couldn't help but see the common sense of his argument because he didn't detract from it by using words that would obscure his point.

OK, so I’ve now read through 600+ comments and still want to come back and respond to yours because it matched my first impressions as well.
I’m not sure that I would have called the slut a slut if I had been in Rush’s shoes but having gone that route I sure as hell wouldn’t have retreated from it.
Like you, I spent the better part of the day defending his POV only to have the rug pulled out from under me and his apology shoved in my face. Very uncomfortable and very unpleasant.
We’ve seen the firestorms that the left have ignited over Rush’s rhetoric - this isn’t the first attempt to shut him up. But the stakes are larger now than at any prior time in history. The left is poised to deliver the fatal knockout blow to our republic....and the best we can muster is mittens. WTF?! These are times for standing strong and resolute and instead we get...capitulation.
Further reading since this morning reveals that the apology has had the desired effect - if one is a lefty. The momentum is growing as it never has before. the agitators are emboldened by his retreat and smell fear.
I guess this must be those “Interesting times” they keep speaking about.
