1 down, 1 to go
Friend--
You did it -- the first of two divisive pieces of legislation that target Virginia women has been stopped in the General Assembly. But we can't stop now. We need to keep up public pressure and send a message, loud and clear, that we want our elected officials to focus on growing the economy, not on wedge social issues.
Yesterday, Republicans in Virginia abandoned "personhood" legislation that could ultimately outlaw certain forms of contraception.
Now we need to stop the unnecessary ultrasound bill. The bill is in the Senate and will likely be brought up for a vote early next week.
The GOP didn't count on you making your voice heard this week -- keep up the pressure. Sign our petition calling on the Virginia Senate to focus on job creation and supporting local businesses, not polarizing social issues. Gov. McDonnell has said he will sign the ultrasound legislation if it comes to his desk. While the bill has been amended, it is still patronizing to women, mandates an unnecessary medical procedure, and adds an extra burden to a woman seeking to make a constitutionally protected, private health care choice.
Virginia and our nation need to stay focused on the real priorities -- supporting our local businesses so they can create good paying jobs, investing in education, and improving access to workforce training and continuing education.

EMAIL YOUR VA SENATOR and tell them to VOTE YES on HB 462, the Ultrasound bill.
Don’t worry, the RINO coward McDonnell will kill it somehow.
I thought the bill SB484 died the other day
McDonnell is still more Conservative than the majority of posters at Free Republic ~ his problem is he tolerates CHEATING and he’s a flip-flopper.

2/24/2012 - McDonnell backs away from ultrasound bill
