there are three destinations for eternal life
according to mormon theology
the celestial kingdom is heaven where only mormons go and you do need a temple recommend to have the masonic rites performed at the temple in order to go to heaven and become a god
the telestial kingdom is a slum area of heaven not unlike this planet and it is for the people who led good lives but weren’t mormon, or mormons who didnt fulfill their church responsibilities and they become ‘ministering angels’ (slaves) to the mormon gods
the terrestial kingdom is for the people who were evil and is basically eternal purgatory
they tell people ‘everybody goes to heaven’ but one level of heaven is like hell, and another level is the slave shack out back where even Gandhi and Mother Teresa are at the good mormons beck and call
as with everything else theres the story they tell you when youre coming in the door and then theres the story they tell you after youre hooked to make you even more obedient and subservient...bishops/stake presidents will hold the issue of a temple recommend over someones head to coerce them into anything they think the church requires but the member isnt delivering, basically they are blackmailing them with their eternal life
