"Santorum slammed government-supported public education as "anachronistic" (he home-schools his kids)..."

... on Pennsylvania taxpayers' $100,000 tuition money, while he and family lived in Virginia, where he still lives today.

That statement could use a little citation, if you please?

Why do we see this inexorable move towards Big Government and Socialism. Why would people in the freest country in the world throw away what others (immigrants and patriots) have lost their lives to have here?

I think Milton Friedman has some well-thought-through insights on these questions. One of the links below is kind of long and bad resolution, but well worth the time to listen. Links below.

The author went on further to say:

"Geez you guys are nutso for wanting Santorum- you guys should pick Romney!

"Yeah!

"Romney's the most 'electable' guy you got- heck Romney could even beat OUR guy Obama!

"Really- he could!

"That's why you should pick Romney- boy we'd sure be scared if you picked Romney"

Completely agree! We need more moderate candidates to be our nominees, candidates who are politically correct and certainly won’t challenge “A woman’s right to choose”.

Sounds like you’ve posted a piece justifying why all should support Romney.

No thanks. Not in a million years for this voter.

John Baer is a liberal hack 'journalist' from Philly, and you're reduced to citing him to attack Santorum.

You really are pathetic. Try making your case for Newt instead of tearing down Santorum, Frenchie...

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette revives phony Santorum scandal

Funny, originally it was $55K--the number seems to grow every time the story is told.

That “online home school” attack against Rick was the biggest phony non-issue I have ever seen raised. Members of the Teachers Union held an OWS style vigil on the front lawn of his Pennsylvania home in an attempt to prove that he really did not live there. Literally thousands of children are home-schooled in this state with online resources paid by their school district. Being a Member of Congress he clearly never gave up his Pennsylvania residency.

But hey, the crotchety old voters around here decided they’d rather elect The Late Gov. Casey to end the war in Iraq and begin kicking that money back to them in the form of free prescriptions and bus rides.

Blatant propaganda.

Like Santorum, I also pay taxes in two states.

Like him, as a taxpayer, I am entitled to services and tax refunds in both.

Santorum did nothing even remotely approaching unethical in this instance.

His only offense was not paying lip service to public education.

Social liberals like you and Baer can't fool me.

He's got my vote.

How in the name of all that's holy is Rick Santorum atop national polls for the Republican nomination?

...namely, that Santorum's core beliefs and personal traits are untenable in a general election.

Maybe conservatives (and Republicans in general) are finally fed up with the mainstream media telling them what kind of candidate they HAVE to nominate to win and have finally decided to say, screw the main stream media, screw the so called "moderates" and "independent women", we're going to pick the most conservative candidate and the one that closest reflects our values, then let the chips fall where they may. After all, we allowed the media to pick our, so called "perfect" candidate in 2008, who was "moderate" and appealed to women and independents and checked all the right boxes that the media wanted checked...and of course he got creamed in November.

For that matter, why do I never really hearing all these stories that Obama was too liberal to attract women and independents, he certainly wasn't a wishy-washy middle of the road candidate.

Why are you posting smear articles written by Philly liberal creeps to attack a decent conservative? Do you think that we should take the word of creeps like this author over our own experience and knowledge of Rick Santorum's character, conviction and record?

That's not your real issue. In any event, by letting his wife and children live with him while serving the people of Pennsylvania, Senator Santorum saved about half of the cost of sending the kids to a brick and mortar PA school for political expediency.

Outside of the state provided computer (a one time cost, at probably $1,000), the actual cost probably isn't the $7,000 cited, as most of the cost of the system is tied up in overhead (network, servers, software), and the per student actual cost probably is not anywhere near $7,000. It does hurt the local district, because they foot the bill, but much less than if teh good Senator decided to sacrifice his children's well-being, sending his kids to the PA public school.

The public schools in Virginia have the same problems as public schools everwhere, and the private schools are expensive enough ($20K+) that his Senator's salaray at the time would have had a hard time supporting 5-7 of them.

This is a tempest in a teapot. We are down to Newt and Rick. Support one, don't trash the other. If you must rip on somebody, Romney or Obama will do.
