Sarkozy draws line in sand over euthanasia

The two candidates in France’s presidential election are using euthanasia as one of the defining differences in the campaign. In a wide-ranging interview in Le Figaro, President Nicolas Sarkozy explained why he would not back it:

“Legalized euthanasia might lead us to dangerous excesses and would be contrary to our understanding of the dignity of human beings. The Leonetti law is perfectly balanced, establishing a principle, that of respect for life. It leaves room for a dialogue between the patient, his family and his physician. This demonstrates understanding and humanity. We do not have to legislate everything all the time.”

His opponent, François Hollande, a Socialist, recently revived France’s simmering euthanasia debate in a TV interview. A spokesman told Reuters that the exact protocols had not been worked out yet.

The End-Game of ALL left-wing fantasies is euthanasia, to rid their prefect society of whomever they don't want, the "unfit", Jews, and of Course their Right Wing Enemies.

Sarkozy standing up to Fascism Ping!

Sounds nice. But what does dignity and life mean in France? God-ordained life — with a soul — means nothing to most of the materialistic, amoral French. France is a dead secular country with empty churches.

The Nazis marched into Paris in World War II, said boo!, and the French capitulated. Yes, master, they said, we will accept your definition of life so long as you preserve our own craven lives.

H/T KC_Lion & wagglesbee Sarkozy has taken many conservative positions, and has strongly emphasized the of importatnce of the Judeo-Christian foundations of French and European culture. There is a world of difference between Sarko and the Socialist Party candidate, François Hollande.

Here's hoping the French get that....Hollande will be many steps down for France if he even gets close to leadership there.

BTW Thank you for keeping us posted on what's happening in France...I don't always comment but I love the news from there as I watch international leaders and what they're up to.
