I don't know what's worse, that the numbers are clearly being cooked, or that judging from the stock market we're falling for it.

The market does seem to be disconnected from reality. However, the rise of late has been on very low volume. Also, computer driven algorithms may account for much of the trading as individual investors appear to have pulled back.
