"Among self-identified independents and Democrats, Santorum leads with 40%, followed by Romney with 27%, Paul with 15%, and Gingrich with 5%."

Now that's a surprising number--and very encouraging!

Blue collar independents and union democrats don't like candidates who come from central casting of Joe Isuzu.

A lot of them also would want to embarrass Snyder who endorsed Romney.

Yes, I agree with you, the fact that Santorum comes from a working class background and actually did some hard work as a young man helps his case a bit. Just imagine how much more his case would be helped had he bothered to serve a tour in the armed forces...

I’ve had two robo calls today that start right out slinging mud at Santorum. The long knives are out.

Won’t you savor seeing Ann C. and Rove try to put some sort of spin on this on Fox?

I got a robo today as well. Romney has one attacking 'union bosses' and another from some Charlie Waters guy or something like that calling Santorum a union guy.

(eyeroll). I'm voting to stop Romney anyway. He signed a gun ban.

“Just drop out, Mitt.”

I don’t see that happening ever. I think Mitt is going to win, and I fear we conservatives are going to prohibit a general election victory. We have convinced republicans to run too far too the right to win. The democrats have spent the last 60+ years brainwashing our population in public schools, media, and universities to be blinded to what true freedom is.

They have a substantial ground game advantage built up over that time. We cannot even challenge them without rebuilding a faith in freedom. That requires a ground game & control of our State’s.

We are not ready for Washington, Washington can’t help us. We must resist Washington and focus on undercutting them.

The presidential election this year is otherwise unimportant. To throw our eggs at it is foolish. The only thing we need this election for is securing more control over our States. and thus advancing our cause in that vital Territory. WE MUST REEDUCATE OUR POPULATION IN FREEDOM!

FWIW, Santorum’s father was a veteran and a career VA psychologist who went to school on the GI Bill, and Santorum served on the Senate Armed Services Committee. That's about as close as you can get without wearing the uniform.

I'm originally from Grand Rapids and I am very happy to see this development with Santorum. Romney has three problems: social conservatives in West Michigan, blue collar Reagan Democrats in the Detroit suburbs, and an attitude outside metro Detroit of detestation for that city and what it represents.

Growing up in Grand Rapids, I remember people having bumper stickers on their cars saying “secede from Detroit.” Detroit's power has greatly diminished over the years, but being a metro Detroiter is no more of an advantage outside metro Detroit than being a New York City resident is outside metro NYC.

If Mittens starts a losing streak, he may bow out to make way for Jebbie.

If Mittens starts a losing streak, he may bow out to make way for Jebbie.

"Jebbie" will get slaughtered in a primary.

The Bush association is a partial factor in the demise of governor Perry. No one wanted another Texas governor slaughtering the English language and causing people to wince every time he approached a microphone for 4 years.

"Jebbie" is Bush III and the people won't stand for a monarchy. If he runs, the Bush family will be portrayed by the left as "Satan's first family".

And there will be no one on the right willing to bother to stop it.

"Jebbie" as a candidate could only be dreamed up by people with such a disconnect with reality that it's frightening to believe they exist within the GOP (not you, personally, I hear them talking about it as well.)

What happened to the Texas poll you just posted with Santorum beating Romney?
