After three years with unemployment topping 8 percent, the U.S. has seen the longest period of high unemployment since the Great Depression, the Congressional Budget Office noted in a report issued today.
And, despite some recent good news on the economic front, the CBO is still predicting that unemployment will remain above 8 percent until 2014. The report also notes that, including those who haven't sought work in the past four weeks and those who are working part-time but seeking full-time employment, the unemployment rate would be 15 percent.
Matt Lauer: “How will the Republicans now run against Obama with the backdrop of an improving economy. How do you say ‘that’s not good.’”
LOL!
The purpose of this article is to back the messiah’s claim that it “was worse than I thought”, to excuse his failure of a fraud presidency.
Totally unexpected.
Work or collect unemployment? Decisions, decisions.
DNC Chairman Debbie Wasserman Schultz:We own the economy - June 15, 2011
We're going to hang you, your commie boss, and all the dims with this Ms. Wasserman Schultz!
You own The 0bama Depression!
FUBO GTFO !
Average length of unemployment during the Great Depression was somewhere around 6 months. During this recession, it's taken folks as long as 8 months to find a new job, once they lost the one they had.
That's for the people who actually looked rather than sat on unemployment for 99 weeks! Yet another demonstration of a FAILED Obama economy.
He can't blame this on Bush! In Obama's own words, if he didn't have the economy turned around by his third year in office, he'd be a one-term President.
Hold him to his word folks. Remember in November.
MSM ‘excuses’ on why this is the Longest Period of High Unemployment Since Great Depression:
1) Greedy employers hoarding high profits
2) Not enough stimulus from government
3) Companies not hiring on purpose to make Obama look ‘bad’
4) green economy needs more time(and tax dollars) to develop
5) Fox News, talk Radio and conservative web sites make the economy worse then it really is in order to spew their extreme right wing rhetoric.
6) More unemployment, the more money people have to spend—The Nancy Pelosi School of Economics
7) We need ‘sustainable capitalism’—the Al Gore school of economics
8) We need more government employees
9) RACISM (see Detroit)
10) As always-— Bush’s FAULT
With unemployment ins, social security, medicare, medicaid, welfare payments, food stamps, meals on wheels, school lunches (actually 3 meals a day) heating fuel payments; the incentive to get a job can be limited to our less than ambitious citizens.
ruh roh
the CBO is due for a visit from “the Truth Squad”
Your papers, bitte?
In obama’s mind, success is going back to square one.
WOW! You nailed it good, comrade!
well done.
Obamaville
Excellent! You should send that to O’Reilly, Hannity, Dennis Miller, and even the asshat Steven Colbert.
Great chart!
This little fact should be parroted every day from now to election day, even if the economy magically turns around.
The economy has turned around. Don’t you watch NBC/CBS/ABC/CNN/MSNBC?
The lies worked for years, but their problem now is they can’t convince someone who has been looking for work for a year or two that they’re actually working.
Unemployment and inflation will doom Obama, and sink his media further into irrelevance.
