“How did encouraging people to vote for Hillary after she was already losing manage to foist 0bama on us? “

They voted for Obama. At that point, everyone thought that Hillary would be the nominee.

It’s a known fact that Obama’s surprise win of the ‘08 Iowa caucus was caused in part by republicans who showed up to vote for him as part of operation chaos.

One thing I never do is underestimate Bill/Hill. Don’t count this out totally yet. She’s growing her hair, wore the pearls at the State of the Union, and soon she’ll be putting on the pink cardigan. Not to mention her bud Panetta dissing Obama last night.

Not true, at least officially. Republicans had their own contests to worry about in Iowa. Rush's announcement of Operation Chaos didn't happen until just before primaries in states like Pennsylvania and Texas after McCain had blitzed through South Carolina and Florida to appear to sew up the GOP nomination.

IIRC, Hillary won Iowa and a few early states but not by the dominant margins she was expected to and Obama's campaign didn't really take off until later when Ted Kennedy endorsed Obama, putting the whole weight of the Kennedy wing of the party up against the Clinton wing of the party.

180 degrees out of phase there.

People showed up to vote for HILLARY as part of “Operation Chaos”.

Rush encouraged people to vote for HILLARY, not 0bama.

For those of you in Rio Linda - Operation Chaos sought to extend the Democrat primary after it looked like 0bama was going to walk away with it- by encouraging Republicans in open primary States to vote for HILLARY.

So far nobody has yet proffered a reasonable scenario whereby this would have made the nomination of 0bama more likely.

In reading about Operation Chaos, it is stated that Rush came up with the idea to keep the Democratic selection process going after Obama had already won several states. Iowa is first in the nation, so why would Operation Chaos have even been thought up prior to Iowa? Real Clear Politics shows Clinton ahead of Obama by 20% in polls during the two to three weeks prior to the Iowa caucus of 2008.

Operation Chaos had absolutely nothing to do with the 2008 Iowa Democratic Caucus results.

Any Republican crossover in the 2008 Caucus would have been by those who thought Obama was the weak candidate, and not due to O.C.
