NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - Eleven men who claimed immigration agents violated their rights in 2007 raids on their New Haven neighborhood have won a $350,000 settlement from the U.S. government, which also agreed to halt deportation proceedings against the plaintiffs, their attorneys said Tuesday.

The raids on the predominantly Latino neighborhood of Fair Haven came a day after the city became the first to offer identification cards to illegal immigrants, and critics including the mayor have contended the federal sweep was retaliation for the ID program — a charge denied by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Five of the plaintiffs were still facing deportation proceedings, but those will be halted as part of the settlement agreement, Pedulla said.

Adios America....we hardly knew ye.

What - no keys to the city?

Sounds like grounds for another lawsuit.

George Bush said “Family values don't stop at the Rio Grande”, in the face of a post 9/11 country screaming to secure the southern border.

Laura Ingram said “Most Latino voters are conservative anyway, regardless of what is reported otherwise”.

Karl Rove said to Tom Tancredo “What...you don't want to help brown people out?”

The Republican top brass are just as detrimental to America as they claim the Dems are.

New Haven Mayor John DeStefano, a vote-crazed Democrat sucks up to illegals:

<> introduced ID card program for illegals (an ID for each identity that votes);

<> wants to extend voting rights to illegal immigrants, other noncitizens (and will register as Democrats each fake identity to vote);

<> prohibited police from asking people about their immigration status;

<> spoke out against a federal immigration program, Secure Communities, which uses fingerprint to ID illegals who have been arrested.

Rights. Illegals have rights. They have the right to be deported. What other rights do they have?

Is DeStefano himself legal, or is he doing this just to keep ICE from checking into the new guys he brings in from Sicilia for the special jobs?

New Haven Mayor John DeStefano, a Democrat who introduced the ID card program, tightened his embrace of newcomers in December by announcing a proposal to extend voting rights to illegal immigrants and other noncitizens.

Why not let 10 year olds vote, Johnny?? Why stop at ILLEGALS and NON-CITIZENS? What is wrong with underage people voting?

Oh wait... they might vote smarter than the ILLEGALS..
