A Supreme Court spokeswoman says Justice Stephen Breyer was robbed last week by a machete-wielding intruder at his vacation home in the West Indies.

Arberg said the intruder took about $1,000 in cash and no one was hurt.

Don't we pay him to work nine months a year?
“The last time a justice was the victim of a crime was in 2004, when a group of young men assaulted Justice David Souter as he jogged on a city street. Souter suffered minor injuries. In 1996, a man snatched Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s purse while she was out walking with her husband and daughter near their home in Washington. Ginsburg was not hurt.”
Just the precursors to the Stinkify Wall Street thugs insisting the 1% give their fair share.
I am SO sorry to hear that they have fallen on hard times from a criminal standpoint. We never had a minute's trouble there, not one.
While on his knees begging, "Please, please, please don't cut me!"
The Justice claims his property on Nevis is worth between 100k and 250k. I seriously doubt that, unless he has a 1b condo. It would be interesting to appraise his property. I am sure it’s an “oversight”.
Why didn’t he turn on his penumbra and rule that a .357 appear in his hand?
Guess that ol’ ju-ju is slipping away.
SKN hired a new head of national police - a Kittitian who was a Texas sheriff and very experienced in special operations . He brings a wealth of experience, connections and contacts . Crimes are starting to get solved now.
That's all we need is a conservative justice kidnapped or worse
.
Couldn’t happen to a more deserving (or arrogant) fellow.
What we need here is a law that bans the use of sharp objects during the commission of Robberies. That would take care of this problem.
Maybe they should have passed a rule that said no machetes were allowed there, that would have fixed it.
Or, maybe they should have posted a sign on their property saying, “machetes are banned on this premises.” That would have stopped it, for certain.
Its his own fault for not putting up a sign, IMHO.
I heard a story about some liberal politician speaking in New York saying “They say a conservative is a liberal who got mugged, well I have been mugged - AND I AM STILL A LIBERAL!”
From the audience a voice shouted out... “MUGG HIM AGAIN!”
I'm certain that Justice Breyer thought he was secure in his residence and person. Now that the illusion is shattered, will he learn anything from this incident? Sadly, no. There was no pain or suffering inflicted upon him.
ping!

I resemble that remark.
Whenever we visit someone’s vacation home, I work hard to find some way to leave it better than I found it, even if it is just a small thing. Recent examples in the last 2-3 years: Replaced failing batteries in a commercial alarm panel for a 3-unit condo that eliminated the need for a weekend alarm company 30 mile truck roll ($$), as the panel was beeping obnoxiously (Beaufort). Reversed the dryer door on a stacked front-loading W/D set so that the hinge was against the wall like the washer, improving laundry room ergonomics significantly (Santa Rosa Beach). Added a waterproof switch to a light pole down by the dock (Lake Blue Ridge). Washed down outside patio and roll up window shutters and defrosted non-auto-defrost refrigerator (silly Europeans)(Nice).
We get invited back a lot, in general.
Back to the topic at hand - I’m glad Breyer and family are OK, and I hope he learned a lesson. And I hope it is one we could agree with.
You’re probably right. I bet it was USVI. I live in St Augustine, and I know people who are reluctant to sail there.
Proud and grateful heterosexual sodomite checking in here. Had my last sodomatic experience about 16 hours ago. Looking forward to the next.

Boy, am I tired of that old sophistry. Please try to figure out why you don’t have a point.
Aside from that, *way* too much information.
