The media has made fun of her because she's not Ivy League. They think it's embarassing that she talks just like anybody you'd meet in the street. She has a regional accent. She's not "nuanced" the way they want her to be. She's blunt. And she takes this country seriously.
The media finds her laughable for all of these reasons, and the American people find her to be refreshing and wonderful for these same reasons.

The media has made fun of her because she's not Ivy League. Of the three front-runners, only Mitt is Ivy League (Harvard, MBA, JD), which may contribute to why the Establishment like him.
