Anyone who thinks the WH is not manipulating the media only has to think back to this line of questioning, in early January:
““George, this is an unusual topic that you’re raising,” Romney said. “States have the right to ban contraception? I can’t imagine that states would want to ban contraception. If I were a governor or a legislator in a state, I would totally oppose any effort to ban contraception. So you’re asking — given the fact that there’s no state that wants to do so — you are asking could it constitutionally be done?” Stephanopolis was given the heads up there was something coming on the contraception front by His Excellency and his job was to pin down the then front runner Romnesty.

That’s right...now we know why Georgie Stephie was so insistent on getting that “odd” contraceptive question out there.
