“UAW president Bob King told a crowd of more than 500 at the 75th anniversary of union’s first contract with General Motors that more direct action like such as the Flint sit-down strike of 1937 is needed today.”
Interesting model to use. By 1937, Hitler’s rise and Japan’s ascension was OBVIOUS. It was clear that the world was heading toward a massive, massive, war. Yet...the UAW could care less - they only wanted to “stick it to the man”.
That’s why unions have no place, in any role, in this country.
Good history.
There’s also the story of the sabotage of defense industries by unions in the run-up to Pearl Harbor.
Sabotage was so bad at the Willow Run B-24 factory in Michigan that ‘Will It Run?’ became gallows humor among airmen in WWII. That’s right, union brethren killed their fellow citizens, imagining they were advancing socialism!
