The heads at the RNC and Romney’s campaign are already scheming up nonstop attacks on Santorum.

The problem isn’t the candidates. It’s the conservative electorate and the moderates registered as Republicans. They aren’t analyzing the candidates in any way at all, which is why their convictions change with each passing wind, and they fall for whoever happens to be getting the most positive news, and dissipate when the weather turns bad.
Ask a conservative the difference between Santorum and Newt, and not very many are going to mention their actual platforms. Don’t blame the candidates for the weakness of the voters to look deeply into anything.

I'd send Rick some money, but every time I send a candidate some money that take a broadside from state-controlled media and are never heard from again.
Maybe I'll send some money to Myth and Ubama.

At this point it seems like every Republican candidate has experienced a surge which lasts for a month or so - Perry, Cain, Gingrich, Romney and now Santorum. The surges dont last - GOP primary voters dont seem to like any of these guys that much. This should be a no-brainer march to the White House against an unpopular president whose economic polices are destroying the US and so far the GOP hasnt even been able to excite its base with its candidates, let alone the general electorate. Perry self destructed.
Cain self destructed.
Gingrich and Santorum are being buried under an avalance of Mitt-money.
Santorum was written off too early by many (including me). IMO, Santorum has less baggage and may begin to unite the conservatives.

The Willard slime machine is going to start spewing by Monday and in a week or so you will see Santorum’s numbers slip just like Newt.
