Considering such a symbol was responsible for the murders of millions of innocent people and the combat deaths of thousands of American GI’s, its use was and is unacceptable.

How are a bunch of young guys supposed to know that flag had anything to do with Nazis?

They have these things nowadays called books, and I heard of this one thing called the interwebs or something. Supposedly these doohickeys are filled up with information of all sorts, some of which is historical in nature.

These guys are too young to recall this symbol. USA Today reported that they thought it represented sniper scouts.Somebody posted, which I find hard to believe, that in video games involving U.S. vs. Nazis, the swastikas were censored out.

Now if they had posed with one of the Confederate battle flags (stars and bars), the media would have gone hysterical.

My son is one of those "young guys" in the Marines in Afghanistan. Well not one of the idiots that posed with the flag, but he's a young guy in the Marines. He knows exactly what that flag means.

Don't make excuses for a bunch of idiots - people can make jokes about youth, about education in this country, but you can damn well bet that at least one of those Marines was intelligent and educated enough to recognize what that flag represented.

I've seen those flags being sold at gunshows and a few other places, and they are never just by themselves and are never represented as "Scout Sniper" or anything like that. They are usually surrounded by other Nazi regalia and white supremacist crap.

And usually they are being sold by the about the worst examples of the white race you can find. I've never understood that. Some of the people I've seen selling this crap would have been put to death under Hitler's rule for being mentally retarded.
