Breaking news: Within the past week, hospice's wicked witch is dead. All the money she laundered from corporation to corporation won't do her any good now. She was only 63.

She killed Terri for Michael Schiavo after attempting to kill her other times after his failed effort to take her out and then his refusal to continue rehab of dear Terri.

Why is it, everytime I see the word “bioethicist” these days, the story is going to involve yet more repugnant misanthropic sewage?

This, of course, begs the question of why, if human life isn't worth preserving, are organ transplants even considered?

Well, you know, certain people are more important than others, and they deserve to have their lives extended to the last possible breath, at the expense of others' lives.

People like bioethicists...and Robert Reich....and Kathleen Sebelius...and Hillary...

That's because the bioethicists who are actually concerned about treating people ethically never make it into the news. They do exist, and probably outnumber the misanthropist "bioethicists" by several orders of magnitude.

They jettisoned morality and now they even attack the very notion of ethics.

What kind of society do they think will result from this?

Eugenics will just be another thing they’ll approve of because they no longer have the ability to judge the difference between right and wrong.

Lets put it this way, who gets to decide what groups its okay to kill for organs and what groups get the organs?

This is a big conflict that the medical profession has to face up to sooner or later. In order to harvest organs to save some patients, they have to kill others. That’s a huge conflict of interest.

It’s only a short hop to saying, “those who do not approve of our programs and ideals for the nation should not be permitted to partake of it’s success!”

Or...

“Let them eat cake!”

Or...

“Off with his head!”

Sort of like, “Your husband, we discovered, was a very sick man. He had a very bad case of water on the brain, and we found we had no choice but to amputate. We’re very sorry.”

At the rate things are going, we have to hope that either the people act real soon, or the current system collapses from it’s manifest rot.

Some choice, huh?

CA....

Then they’ll think - why waste all this good muscle tissue? People need cheap protein.

I ain’t kidding.

We will see how it all turns out. I am 100% sure they will lose but it won’t be easy.

You and me both.

And the thing that irks me is that I know otherwise. When I was in university, one of my classmates (I was in the arts, she in the sciences, and we shared a philosophy class on the history of Western ethics) organized a major bioethics symposium. She was a Christian, and all for the responsible use of science and technology - but she would have recoiled at the amoral casuistry of these two "doctors."

I guess I agree with a previous poster: we don't hear about the good guys, only the whackjobs like Peter Singer and these guys, whenever they say something over-the-top.
