Oh my: White House having second thoughts on new contraception rule? (Keep up the pressure!!)

How dangerous is this for them? Dangerous enough that even Chris Matthews, who was last seen praising Obama’s beatific smile as worth 10 points in the booth this November, is talking about how “frightening” it is that the state might start dictating to churches in matters of conscience. If they’ve got Tingles saying stuff like that, imagine what undecided religious voters are thinking.

A key White House adviser on faith issues said Tuesday that several organizations with ties to the administration have approached President Obama’s aides about finding a resolution to fast-growing controversy over a new rule requiring many Catholic institutions to offer birth control and other contraception services as part of employees’ health care coverage.

“There are conversations right now to arrange a meeting to talk with folks about how this policy can be nuanced,” said Pastor Joel C. Hunter, a Florida megachurch pastor who has grown personally close to Obama and advised his White House on religious issues. “This is so fixable, and we just want to get into the conversation.”…

One possible compromise was introduced as early as last October, long before the issue hit the national headlines, when one of Obama’s outside advisers drafted a plan that would have allowed women working for Catholic institutions to receive coverage directly from insurers rather than from the objecting institutions themselves.

Carney said this afternoon that they “will be working with those organizations and individuals who have concerns” on implementing the new policy before it goes into effect next year, but Axelrod was a bit stronger this morning in the MSNBC clip you’ll find below. Quote: “We certainly don’t want to abridge anyone’s religious freedoms, so we’re going to look for a way to move forward that both provides women with the preventive care that they need and respects the prerogatives of religious institutions.” As with Komen and Planned Parenthood, I’m surprised the White House is as surprised as it seems to be about the backlash it’s getting. The thinking, I assume, was that they could get away with it because, as Ed notes in his new column, Catholics just aren’t that socially conservative. Fifty-four percent of them voted for The One in 2008; meanwhile, in today’s new PRRI poll on the contraception issue, 58 percent of Catholics thought all employers should cover birth control in their health plans at no cost and 52 percent thought that policy should extend to religiously-affiliated employers. (Among Catholic voters specifically, though, the split was 45/52.) If there was nothing else happening to keep the issue cooking, it might have faded before election day. I think Team O might have been caught off-guard by the intensity and uniformity of the pushback from Catholic bishops, though, especially since they’re used to getting cover from many of them on other Democratic agenda items like immigration. And of course, Romney went after this issue hard and will probably be pressed by Santorum into going after it harder still. That’s a risky simultaneous surge of political demand and supply for the White House, so here comes the climbdown.

Exit question from Ace’s co-blogger Laura W: Why did Catholic organizations support ObamaCare in the first place when they knew there was a risk that it would force conflicts of conscience like this one? Did they think it didn’t matter how other groups were burdened so long as they themselves got a pass?

I don’t care what he thinks now. My Church did the right thing and said it the right way: We will not comply. Should I be grateful if he “gives” us our rights back?

That was the key sentence for me Sunday. We will not comply.

It isn’t just the Catholics that he attacked, it is the defining of Separation of Church and State. This clown has defined it well for everybody. (The true meaning that is)!

The entire world that holds God as the Creator of Rights has kicked numb-nuts Obama squarely in the crotch. The marxist asshat hasn’t a clue.

My worry is that it is political theater for the won, and will be rescinded with great pomp and ceremony just before election day in November.

this is what happens when people accept “help” from the Feds.
Once the money starts flowing, they try to flip the argument and put conditions on how things are run if you want the money to keep on flowing.

Will the voters remember this in November? I seriously doubt it.

Rick Santorum said the church should have fought harder against the whole Affordable Health Care Act (AKA Obamacare).

QUOTING SANTORUM:

“I told the Catholic bishops years ago when they were … promoting Obamacare, be careful what you wish for, They got what they deserved.”

Ugh to these false Catholics they poll who want birth control provided to them via their employer.

The first thing they should ask when they’re polling is not “are you a Catholic?” but rather, “Are you a regular, every Sunday and Holy Day of Obligation Catholic?” More than half would have to say no, and then the numbers of those who want abortion and birth control would dwindle down quite substantially.

The problem is how they count Catholics. Just because you were born Catholic doesn’t make you Catholic. You’ve got to believe in God; believe that Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, died for our sins, and rose again and ascended into Heaven; go to Mass regularly; go to Holy Reconcilliation several times a year; AND follow the tenants and dogma of the Faith.

Now I’m sure the media doesn’t care, because these CINOs are almost always liberal like them, but they are not faithful Catholics. Let’s be real.

We NEED this to go to the Federal Courts.

The last thing the commie want is for Obamacare to go into the court system under First Amendment grounds.

It could come out the other side as a Fourteenth Amendment issue.

We can not, must not consider compromise.

The regulation must be obliterated in its' entirety.

Then it becomes a political issue for Obama and the left.

Oh yeah. All religion disgusts them, and Catholicism infuriates them. I know one who spends a substantial amount of her time every single day fretting about the Catholic Church. She's obsessed by it to the point of becoming a borderline mental case.

There are hundreds of thousands if not millions of similar individuals out there.

THANK YOU!!! I was just getting ready to ask the question: Even if the White House back-tracks on this will the Catholics forgive and forget by November and vote for Obozo? But, I think you answered that question for me and the answer is "NO"!

"...will be rescinded with great pomp and ceremony just before election day in November."

The important thing to remember here is that if he gets re-elected, he will probably do the same thing again. Perhaps even worse.

Do not allow yourself to be bamboozled. If the Illegal Kenyan, God forbid, should get reelected, he will reverse himself once again, before the echoes of his second lying oath of office fade off down the Potomac, and will once more, and to an exponentially greater degree, demonstrate his hate and disdain for true Christianity.

During the Cold War we were subjected to Aesopian Language from the Ruskies; with them throwing around words which were “sacred” to us, but which had a totally different and nefarious meaning to THEM. A good example would be PEACE. We all know what world peace means to us; but to THEM it meant the total surrender of the USA and the rest of the world to Soviet Communist Rule, with no resistance to whatever they wanted to do. THAT’s the kind of “peace” they intended.

Likewise, when Zero talks about his “Christian Faith” he means HIS brand of “Liberation Theology” where all the achievers have their assets confiscated by the government and redistributed to the leeches and layabouts!

IF he does reverse himself NOW, and relents on the requirements on Christian organizations, it is only a head fake to get him successfully past November 6th.

RE: this is what happens when people accept “help” from the Feds.

My daughter goes to Grove City College, an excellent conservative school at REFUSES to accept students on ANY Federal aid.

Why did they do that? Well in the 1970’s they had to fight Department of Education intrusion into their Sports Program (TITLE IX Program ) that warned them to make sure that their program had EQUAL sports programs for women ( they did not need the Fed to tell them that, they were already doing it ). Also there was an issue of TOO FEW minorities ( read blacks ) being accepted to the school ( this inspite of the fact that there were blacks who were enrolled there ( provided they meet the academic standards ) ).

They just got out of the Federal program altogether and decided to design their own PRIVATE aid program.

The college is still thriving today and last I hear — even in a bad year — 2011, over 95% of their graduates found jobs within 3 months of graduation !

Hillsdale College also does the same thing.

So, if you don’t want any strings attached that will affect your deepest held beliefs, don’t lie in bed with the Federal government.

The Catholic hospitals should take a cue and learn from the experiences of these two colleges.
