Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) said Tuesday that the Democratic Party would effectively be put out of business, if Congress were to pass a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution. They cant work with us on balancing the budget, DeMint said. Their whole platform is based on more promises from government and more government spending.

It appears as though the ‘RATS are trying to put up a No Budget Amendment. When was the last time we even had a budget?
Government has promised too much to too many for too long to ever keep its word.
Violence in the streets. OWS is just the beginning. When the people demand government “do something,” it won’t be to return to Constitutional government.
This is all talk. The GOP already had the chance to pass a balanced budget. They did not need the Senate, and they did not need Obama to do it. All they had to do was to refuse to raise the debt ceiling. Instant balanced budget. Instead of that they proceeded to vote to raise it by several trillion dollars in about a years time using a process that was deceptive to the American people. A never used before process that trashes the Constitution of the united states. Watch what they do and not what they say.
Perhaps if it included a clause restricting taxation to a single bracket with no deductions or allowances, payable quarterly (none of this silly withholding).
Trust me on this one, this cannot be made good; trying to craft fool-proof legislation grossly underestimates the resourcefulness of these fools.
Why say that? He just guaranteed that no balance budget amendment will ever be passed.
And what’s the downside?
Scum, the lot of them. They ALL must go!
DeMint was just on the Larry Kudlow show, he was great as usual, God I wish he was running for president.
I finally figured it out a little while back, everything that the Democrats do is just a kickback scheme whereby they give tax money to their cronies who in turn give back some of the money to the Dems. One of the most outrageous things is how government employees unions give their [OUR] money to the Dems. They are taking OUR money and giving it to the Dems who then enlarge the government so that there will be more government employees who will make more donations to the Democrats. I believe it was JFK who allowed government employees to unionize.
is DeMint this naive?
My Congressman, Rep. Alan Nunnelee (R) Ms-01, in his first and hopefully his last term, apparently ignores my phone calls and either is doing what he wants or is told to do. He of course voted to raise the debt ceiling and sent me a letter stating how it is good for us and all the money they cut in future spending, which was not enough to pay any where near the intrest even if they were to actually go into effect. He also voted for the replacement jet engine that the military didn’t want. If you can’t cut something that from the military budget that they don’t want you’ll never be able to cut anything. He is being opposed again by Henry Ross in the Republican primary, GO HENRY.
I would be okay with a balanced budget amendment, with the stipulation that no more than 5% of a deficit could be corrected using income increases (that would cover taxes, fees, fines, etc... - ALL FORMS OF INCOME) over a 4 year period! All the rest of the deficit MUST be corrected using cuts, adjustments, etc...
More importantly, the amendment MUST also stipulate that all budget decisions MUST be limited to a four year-outlook; none of this 10 year crap! Everyone knows that these people couldn’t predict how their plans were going to affect the markets at the time they were putting them into play (shovel ready, wasn’t that shovel ready), so why would we want them laying out budgetary decisions on a 10 year layout?!?!
All the more reason to pass such an amendment.
Yawn! So what are you waiting for?
Yawn! So what are you waiting for?
Wow, double post. How’d I do that?
It would put both of our political parties and their pool of favored constituents out of business.
