“Incidentally, since my mother was born in Canada, I am not a natural born citizen either.”
Nonsense. Your parents’ birth doesn’t matter. It’s YOU who matters.
My father was likewise born in Canada (of US parents, incidentally). But while we always have to go through conniptions any time employment/clearance is applied for, it’s because of him, not me.
No offense, but this issue requires a lot of study. It is amazing how sure people are about citizenship issues, when in fact, they know almost nothing about it. What they think they know, and are so positive of, is just plain wrong!
Your father, born of U.S. citizen parents, would be a “citizen by birth” regardless of where he was born. He would not need to be naturalized. He couldn't be president, but I'm guessing he never wanted to. YOU, on the other hand would have no issue for NBC, at least on your fathers side, because he always was a citizen from birth.
Only as to eligibility for president & vice president does being a Natural Born Citizen matter. It doesn't make you a better person, or a better citizen.
You are not correct. This issue is all about "divided loyalties".
