Jonah, I agree with you on the general tin-ear of Romney. Hes extremely un-nimble on the stump, which means that Republicans will be gambling that he can be sufficiently insulated and managed across the finish line without offering up any campaign-detonating hostage to fortune.

Spot on, Mark.
And the description of Myth’s stump speech as “...the most Americanly American America that any American has ever Americanized over...” is classic.
Remind you of anyone?
Why would one vote for weathervane RINOmney when they can vote for the Obamaloon and get the full-fledged socialist?
After all, the only diff between the vapid dork and the Cretin-in-Chief is that the dork will take just a bit longer to come to the incorrect conclusion.
Steyn needs to use that copy as an audio YouTube link so we can hear it delivered in his inimitable style. Such clarity of thought in such a short space with multiple opportunities for expanding his thoughts to really nail Romney. Any RomneyBot's support should wither in light of how he is exposed in just this small article on a single subject. He is rapidly approaching Gore and Kerry on the clueless and wooden measurement scales.
If Romney ends up being the Republican nominee (NOT the Tea Party nominee or the conservative nominee), the campaign between he and Obama will be something akin to a debate between Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.
Take your pick as to which is which.
Also, if Romney is the nominee, IMO, zero gets a second term because not that many people will go out to vote for him.
With romney as the nominee we will slowly bleed to death to up to the 2012 election.
So they worked OT to sideline Palin for her so-called lack of intellect. Now they are stuck with a bumbling thurston howell iii caricature. LOL!
Maybe now Mark will stop bashing Newt night and day.
Darn, you beat me to it. Luv Stein.
Romney is the anti-Reagan.
Ronald Reagan would have never made such a stupid statement because Reagan, unlike the statist Romney, did not believe in a permanent underclass that must forever be consigned to a “safety net”.
That’s is the patrician view that has marked progressive elitists forever.
Ronald Reagan would have spoken about expanding opportunity to allow those people to rise up out of poverty.
It’s a little late for the “smart” conservatives to wake up to the empty suit that is Romney and the GOP.
They emboldened Mittens and the Rinos to carpet bomb the conservative movement. Who is going to vote for him beyond the “GOP Proud” pup tent and the elitists who switched from Bammy? Gross.
Steyn is pro any conservative willing to address this country's ever more massive fiscal problems, and has been harsh on any and all candidates trying to evade these realities.
King Mitten hasn't uttered one statement in this entire campaign that made me believe that he has any grasp of these problems. Yes, he comes off as a "moderate": a moderate Democrat.
