I thought hate crimes were illegal in the UK

This is a diversity incident, which is completely different. You can't prosecute a diversity incident, because that would be imposing our values on others. If in their culture there was no crime, who are we to object to the violence within their own families? It's like the difference between a white-on-black hate crime and a black-on-white diversity incident. Even if the actions are the same, only one is actually a crime.

I’m writing this one down. This is the best explanation for occurances of this type that I have read to date.
