If I were in CA and an automaker, I would just send them a letter, “Worry, we’re on a low-CARB diet. No can do.”

My guess is that a lot more people wil be putting money into maintenance and repairs of their existing vehicles and in 20 years California roads will remind us of the roads in Cuba with their lovingly maintained OLD vehicles.

It seems the CaliStupidia regulation REQUIRES and MANDATES that autos and trucks be manufactured to run without the use of (gasp) fossil fuels.
Does the idiotic regulation, mandate by force of law, that anyone, in penalty of law, to actually PURCHASE and OWN one of the damn things?
Soon the libs will accuse us of being CLINGERS, holding dearly to our Guns, Bibles, and OLDE cars.

This agency is a tool for the implementation of Agenda 21 in this state.
It has no concern about being a ‘laughing stock’ because it is succeeding in its mission.
If you have never heard of Agenda 21, please find out about it. It is more widespread than most people think.

“Joseph Stalin, Al Gore and Pee-Wee Herman.”
I object to including Pee-Wee (Paul Reubens) in that list.
For his fault, Reubens created a character enjoyed by both children and adults, and while the character was frenetic and juvenile, he had some redeeming social values.

As in Simmons’ novel, “Flashback,” California will have to resort to the Rickshaw..

Great. Just great. And in Pennsylvania, Governor Ed Rendell and his wacky head of the DEP singed up PA in a ‘pact’ with California to implement the standards set by the CA CARB board right here in PA. They were all on board with implementing Agenda21 in many ways...

Before long, only Mexicans with burros & donkeys will be trying to traverse California.

OK, I understand that we are talking about a significant portion of the national auto market, but why don't the manufacturer's just quit selling in California? Or quit sending popular models to market there and just supply the CA dealerships with loser-mobiles that meet CARB standards (like the Volt)?
