WEST PALM BEACH — Herman Cain will be a surprise guest at tonight’s Lincoln Day Dinner at the Kravis Center to endorse Newt Gingrich, the Palm Beach Post has confirmed.

The Shark Tank, a conservative news site, was the first to report the endorsement.

Earlier today, Palm Beach County GOP chairman Sid Dinerstein promised a big surprise at tonight’s dinner.

I guess he’s lost faith in “the people”, and figured out he has to endorse a real candidate.

Hopefully, this will help — Cain was polling very well in Florida at one time. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of early voting. But maybe this can help turn the momentum around.

I wouldn’t doubt for a second that Romney’s campaign is the one that unloaded all the smears on Cain.

Realistically, Gingrich has likely lost Florida. But it makes an enormous difference how big or small Romney’s lead is for Gingrich’s viability going forward. If Gingrich remains reasonably close, he can maintain popular support and fund-raising ability, and pick up some delegate-rich upcoming states.

Florida has 50 delegates. But Texas - primary on April 3rd - which Gingrich would surely win, has 155. And it’s not just Texas. A state like Minnesota - which I never thought of as a conservative bastion - has 40 delegates, and Gingrich is heavily favored in the latest poll released 1/25 (Gingrich 36 v. Romney 18):

Gingrich just gave the finest speech I've ever seen by a politician with the exception of Reagan...or maybe not.

Just wow.

Sarah Palin was just on FOX... she all but officially endorsed Newt. She said he has the best chance of beating Obama, and he’d destroy Obama in a debate.

She also took jabs at Romney for Romneycare..

Oh, I know they were. I’m disappointed Herman had dropped out at the time because I was ready to go to bat for him with the NJ accuser and Brad Brewster allegations.

Anyway, I hope now that Herman has endorsed Newt those people that were bashing him or calling him stupid or a Mitt stalking horse finally lay off him. The actual endorsement doesn’t surprise me. I think the intention was there he was going to endorse Newt all along, but they were saving it for a more “critical” time when Newt would be most likely to benefit from it. For example, I really believe that if Newt had needed a boost in SC before the primary there, Herman would have endorsed him instead of the “American People” on Jan 19. When it became clear Newt didn’t need a boost there, Herman put it off.

I doubt that Cain has lost faith in “the people.” I think it is much more likely that he has totally lost faith that the lying POS Romney will run a clean campaign. I’m sure he was contacted by people here in Florida and was told about all the garbage Romney has been trying to pull. It is absolutely disgusting and just as bad as anything he pulled four years ago. I have not supported Newt at all, but Romney’s actions have been so vile, it even got me to decide to vote for Newt anyway.

I have no doubt that Romney was behind the smear campaign against Cain because the stench of Romney was everywhere. Maybe after seeing Romney in action down here, Cain realizes just how sleazy Romney really is.
