Does anyone have a sense of what the polling was like in SC the day or two before the primary? I was out of the country and completely out of touch with what was going on in the state (my state, in fact...I had sent in an absentee ballot before leaving on travel). I was so pleasantly surprised to learn that Newt won, and won so decisively. Thanks!

To answer you question, leading up to SC, all the polls had Newt winning by 7-10 points. Polling has gotten pretty accurate the past few years.

RCP has Romney +8 and trending up. And it doesn’t factor in the new Mason Dixon poll which has Romney +11.

I think a lot of folks here on FR are grasping at straw polls they want to believe. Everyone new Newt was going to win SC. And now everyone knows Romney is going to win Florida.

But Newt is in for the long run. I hope the rumors I hear about him running out of campaign cash aren’t true. Santorum is fading and has more pressing family issues. The February contests are favorable to Romney.

Newt would make a good president. We will see what happens.
