Why not let the liberals have their way with California and let them finish off the state.
So what if they take 2/3 majority? The people who elect the liberals will deserve what they get. Let them self-destroy. Perhaps then, when they’re left hopeless and bankrupt and with companies leaving in droves,and people moving out, the people left will realize how dumb liberal government is.
I sometimes wonder if having Obama win a second term wouldn’t be “good” for the country, since, it would, in the end, be a shock to all Americans, and they’d end up hopeless and learning some very huge lessons which many have refused to learn. Only when the whole country gets that feeling of hopelessness, will the country start towards sanity and the elimination of programs and people who have ruined the country.
If only. Historically, societies tend to spin down to oblivion. There is rarely a second renaissance. Lately, I've begun to feel we've already passed the point of no return. The government may pause, but it will never shrink. It will consume and grow like a metastasized cancer, eventually killing off all productive members of society to feed the ever growing entitlement class. This will continue, right up until the system collapses; then society will plunge into another Dark Age. What a drag. 500 years of bad hygiene, no decent coffee, and a lack of toilet paper.
I feel there is something to your last point. Electing Romney is still a win for big government but carries the additional negatives of a) stealth implementation (because the R behind his name gives him cover to the sheeple) and b) the trashing of the Republican brand because it will be Romney with that R after his name who presides over the collapse. At least Obama is tthe enemy we know.
