Rounded, that’s 6%. It would be hard to call that a backlash without looking at his weekly variations over time. Were Drudge to loose 6%, he’d likely feel it but be able to make it up with a broader set of headlines. 60% now that’s a backlash. Without a trend, I think this is more an eyelash.

Update: By the end of a three day firestorm instigated by Drudge, his hits fell by 11 percent. From 33.8 million to 30 million.

“This is actually scary since we have no idea what forces were at work to make him do this.
Guaranteeed, there was direct outside influence.
What was it?”

How professional political operatives secretly control the news you read about the 2008 campaign. Hint: It involves the Drudge Report.

I havent been to Drudges page for probably 4-5 years. Every time Id go I would:
A) Get a ton of spyware popups, and
B) See nothing but stories which FR had already been covering in great detail. Plus, at FR, you comment and have conversations.
If I wanted just to read a liberal news source, I'd subscribe to a newspaper. At least I'd get the comics and Sunday sale pages!
