Robert Hegyes, Juan Epstein of 'Welcome Back Kotter' dead at 60

Robert Hegyes, the Jersey-born actor who played Jewish Puerto Rican wheeler-dealer Juan Luis Pedro Phillipo de Huevos Epstein on the 1970s classic "Welcome Back Kotter," died from an apparent heart attack after suffering chest pains at his Metuchen home this morning. He was 60.

I am astounded by the number of people dying at the ages of 50-60. Seems like too many. I thought people were more concerned about their health nowadays...

I loved that show,,,God I feel so old!

Just keep telling yourself that they were probably in their 30s when they played high school kids. Not sure if it's true but it makes ME feel better. :)

Lordy so young!

I used to love “signed, Epstein’s Mother...” Also that character was one of the first truly multi-ethnic characters on TV.
