BOSTON -- A Boston Bruins goalie's decision to skip a White House ceremony with President Barack Obama because he believes the federal government is "out of control" points to a growing lack of courtesy in the country, Gov. Deval Patrick said Thursday.
Patrick, a Democrat, was asked about the controversy Thursday during his monthly "Ask the Governor" program on WTKK-FM. He didn't directly criticize goalie Tim Thomas, but suggested that the snub showed disrespect toward the presidency.

Absolutely incorrect Gov Patrick. This is not a question of courtesy. It is a question of standing for this principles that made this Nation the greatest on earth. President Obama’s actions have seriously damaged this Nation. Why should this athlete allow himself to be used as a political prop if he thinks Obama is wrong for the Nation?

There are actually idiots on the sports page blogs that said this gives the Bruins an excuse to get rid of him. Best goalie in hockey and they’d dump him. Doesn’t surprise me because I have heard similarly dim bulbs say they with Curt Schilling never came to Boston. Of course this is all AFTER the winning is done.
