I sure don't think Issa is messing around. I think he's low-key because he's after results not brownie points.
I must have missed a page of this story though. Who is Trey Gowdy and what is he doing?

ctdona, “No move is made without being absolutely certain all variables are accounted for and contained.”
Too many cowards, too many variables. Keeping the lid on this thing is kinda like trying to herd rattlers, ok for a time, but not a long time.

Trey is a cut to the chase, former federal prosecutor, I believe.
Check out the 3:15 segment, I love the dialog.
Also, this segment concludes with Issa recognizing Holder is flustered and time is short.
Here is the
conclusion with Gowdy yielding to Issa as he kicks Holder's a$$ a bit while the Dem gallery goes bonkers.
Watch the cat over Issa's shoulder (I wish I knew who he is). He's making certain Issa nails it. The testimony actually goes further but I can't seem to locate the online footage from Dec 8th, 2011.

Mr. Gowdy is definitely no nonsense. That was nice. The guy over Issa's shoulder must be a lawyer on Issa's staff. He seemed to be nodding in agreement with points of law being made by Issa. He probably briefed the congressman on just how to phrase things and was seeing his work come to fruition. Apparently Issa was nailing every point ... and without a teleprompter! lol
Thanks for digging up those links for me. There was a congresswoman who was a former sheriff (and a lawyer I believe) who grilled Holder in another session that I saw. She was very no nonsense too. I thought she was going to make him cry.

That would be
Sandy Adams, she is not a lawyer and points this out. Pay attention at the 1:03 mark.
Holder does what he does best, waffle and bloviate the committees precious time.
If he can answer a yes/no question with: "Yes, but one does not preclude the other, you see, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
He can then avoid half the questions.
Sandy tried to make this point in her opening, of course to no avail.
Holder was constantly disrespectful towards her, but then he's ERIC HOLDER!
I would love to have simply slapped the $hï of of him!

Yes, that’s her. She is better than a lawyer. She knows how to interrogate an uncooperative witness. Holder is such a disgusting dissembling weasel. But that will only get him so far as long as Issa is willing to take this as far as he can.
