Romney Advisor: No Obamacare Repeal
Redstate ^ | January 25, 2012 | Erick Erickson

As Ben Domenech notes in his Transom, Mitt Romney’s advisors have now advised him to support “a $2 gas tax, a VAT, and open Taliban talks.” Add to that list not repealing Obamacare. Norm Coleman, an advisor to Romney, went on record saying

We’re not going to do repeal. You’re not going to repeal Obamacare… It’s not a total repeal… You will not repeal the act in its entirety, but you will see major changes, particularly if there is a Republican president… You can’t whole-cloth throw it out. But you can substantially change what’s been done.

Any conservative who would entertain the idea of voting for this loathsome thing needs a good head examination.

Newt and Rick need to headline this in campaign ads this week. Mittens will finish 3rd or 4th next week.

BTW, I am not surprised at all about this.

Don’t fix it...NIX IT!
Don’t mend it...END IT!

Newt it from orbit, it’s the only way to be sure.

Any other sources for this?

A VAT? $2 gas tax?

Anything concrete that Mitt supports this?

There’s a thin gloss of conservatism covering Romney the candidate, which would immediately give way to Liberal Romney the moment he became President. And it is all but certain that he would, as soon as nominated, lurch to the “centre” (i.e. left) on the false premise that independents want him to run away from conservative principles. It wasn’t moderation that caused independents to vote overwhelmingly for Republican candidates in 2010 - it was hard nosed conservatism. If Romney (or any other nominee) were to go to the centre, conservatives would stay home and independents would go back to the Dems.

The more I hear and read about Willard, the more I’m stunned at how people can gravitate to his lack of gravitas.

Willard WROTE ObamaCare. He would never go against his own brainchild.

At this point, Romney is going to lose the “anybody but Obama” vote if he is the nominee. That voting bloc will evolve into “anybody but Obama or Romney”.

Fixed.

Throw this montrosity out. You don't “fix” it.

Then you go back and fix a handful of things that need fixing.

A couple:

Fix some liability issues so doctors don't have order 187 tests when you have a cold; just so they won't get sued.

Don't allow people to be dropped by their insurance companies when they come down with a major illness.

The original source commentary for this piece says: "...the next Republican president is likely to go through an experience along these lines: an attempt to repeal the whole bill will be made, passing the House but being filibustered in the Senate. Reconciliation can only go so far...

The distinction isn't made between Romney or Gingrich on that point---to which I say "Bullshit!"

The Hussein cult CRAMMED this pile of garbage down our throats via reconciliation, I say we (and I mean the entire Republican "we", not just the Romney and/or Gingrich teams) do the same damn thing with repeal.

Frankly, it looked to me like Norm Coleman was not thinking through his answer...of course the Ryan/Wyden plan is better than Hussein's DeathCare Law. So that WOULD repeal the damn thing, would it not?

I dunno. But this UNDERSCORES WHY WE MUST ALSO TAKE THE SENATE...AT A FILIBUSTER PROOF MAJORITY TOO! :)
