Call it the Joe Biden effect. Backed by a slogan swiped from Ford, the only American-based car company he did not bail out, President Obama tried to salvage his presidency last night. That may be difficult. Fox News illustrated its posting of the transcript of President Obamas second-to-last State of the Union speech with this chart: Job Approval Approve Disapprove Spread Obama 46.0% 48.3% -2.3% Not exactly encouraging news for this years Committee to Re-elect Our Won (CROW). But stranger things have happened and will.
His speech basically disowned the first three years of his presidency, especially on the economy. That shows just how gawdawful he has been. On his watch, not only has food stamp use increased by 44% to an unheard of 46 million people relying on the state to eat, but 10% of the national economy is now fueled by money he borrows. Obama has tripled what Bush borrowed to run his government. In a stunningly cynical and ironic statement, Barack Obama said: Lets never forget: Millions of Americans who work hard and play by the rules every day deserve a Government and a financial system that do the same. Its time to apply the same rules from top to bottom: No bailouts, no handouts, and no copouts. This comes from the man who bailed out company after company, who increased by 44% the handouts of food stamps and who threw away billions in loan guarantees to his billionaire cronies. His speech was perhaps the biggest copout of the year if not century. As with all his other speeches, this one did not sing. He is a boring lecturer who cannot quote great works like Kennedy or King because it is unlikely he has read any.

My first post of the day to respond. I hope to read many describing Barrys’ failure last night.
The title of his speech should have been “Obama vs Obama”.
If you read some of that speech and did not know who was saying it, you would think it was some presidential candidate running against the current administration.
I’m thinking of his remarks about incenting businesses to hire american workers rather than outsource. Why would a sitting president say we really need to do that, three years after he was sworn in? I mean, what the heck has he been doing the last three years besides giving speeches and playing golf - and making the occasional bad decision?
Same ole same ole.
I did not watch OR listen and WON’T! That’s because I hate listening to the dumbest and least educated or experienced moron in the country get up and pretend to be knowledgeable.
I NEVER listen to anyone who sounds as if they have their entire education and all their ideas from the History Channel. THAT is information for people who have no information of their own and don’t know how to get any!!!
THAT’S “O”!!! The king of the hackneyed phrase, lame usage, dated expressions, infantile ideas and badly stated views.... NOT FOR ME, THANKS!
Besides, I couldn’t watch. Jan. 24th is always the night I do my nails!
He begged me to sit with him, but I said I don't love him enough to suffer like that. ;)
I am proud to say he walked out after 25 minutes, not being able to stomach the lies, but with enough material to satisfy his teacher.
I wonder if they'll get the reference in the class discussion.
Well, I’ve actually had to warn him to tone down his rhetoric, lest it degrade his ability to get good grades/references for the college application process. ;)
He told us that mortgage loans were given to people who couldn’t afford them... There were so many faces in the crowd responsible for that debacle and the cameras should have zoomed in on them but of course, did not. It was almost as tho’ someone had just clued him in on why there was a housing bubble!
What was pretty eerie were huge lights at the top of the chamber that were directed down at him and the rays of the lights were the same as depicted in pictures of our Saviour returning. I kid you not.
Fords earnings are out Friday. Estimates are .26 for the 4th quarter.
My Prediction?
My research and gut feel tells me Ford is going to blow that number out of the water ( not investment advice here...)
If I am right he has to get out ahead of the story because it shines another Microscope on GM, their Profitability ( or lack their of ), and the Volt.
He had to get out in front of it and take Credit for Ford to detract from the GM mess.
It will be fun to see GM's spin and me-too-ism's in the next couple of weeks if my hunches are spot on.
I did not watch the speech last night and didn’t see the point to support the title in the excerpt....
Thanks for the ping. What did he steal from a Ford ad?
