You watch Johnette, too???
Woo hoo! Love her! I download her radio show at night after work. Her & Fr Ed have gotten me through some long runs on my treadmill! I sent her some $$ recently because I believe strongly in the work she does.
Ping to my mama... A former troop Beverly hills... I mean Dunwoody, GA GS troop leader.
When are we going to the gift shop?! What do you mean we have to walk?!

I was a Girl Scout (Brownies) leader @ 20 years ago. It was then becoming more and more left leaning at the regional council leadership level, and seems to have gotten worse. Really a shame. Lots of innocent victims of their PC attitudes that stray from what GSA was founded to be and to do.
I do not purchase GSCs anymore myself. Time for a new GS slogan:
“Buy a cookie, kill a baby!”
Get out of the Girl Scouts and join the American Heritage Girls.
I knew that was you before I saw who pinged me. lol Yes, those were my girls.
It's an understatement to say I don't fit in here -- the police came to answer a prowler call and took one look at my big-tired dog truck, my camo hat, my bird gun (broken open over my elbow) and my at-heel Lab (who always smiles at police officers) and said, "You're not a typical housewife, are you?"
Said, "Nope!" Big smile.
I am sure the Wiccan churches will lwt the LGBT Scouts in!
sending them to the Girl Scouts is punishing them
What many people do not realize is the GS has a “curriculum” that is followed. So, the reading material & program that the troops follow is set by national leadership. Recently, it was reported that a GS publication “Girltopia” featured this little diddy as a recommended book for pre-teen girls: The Gate to Womens Country, authored by former Rocky Mountain Planned Parenthood Director Sheri S. Tepper, a well-known eco-feminist and feminist science fiction writer.
Read the following overview written by Sue Brinkman & tell me if this is what you want your daughter reading:
“Tepper’s tale takes place 300 years into the future after a catastrophic war splits the U.S. into several nations with ‘Womens Country’ being established in the Pacific northwest. The society within this country is matriarchal with all women, girl children and boys under the age of five living inside the town walls. All of the men live outside the town in ‘warrior camps.’ When the boys are five years old, they must leave Womens Country and can only return at the age of 15 and only if they agree to be servants and castrated.
The book also incorporates Teppers eco-feminist ideology. Womens Country exists within the framework of a sustainable economy with the people living off foods grown by low-tech local agriculture.
The citizens of Womens Country are also very concerned with breeding violence out of society which they believe is biologically determined. ‘Medical Officers’ weed out undesirable men but women are also given hysterectomies and tubal ligations if they are deemed unfit to breed. The men from the warrior camps are only seen twice a year for a Carnival where women are encouraged to have sex with them either to satiate themselves and/or pro-create.”
Sir, you are Catholic. This pagan garbage does not follow suit with Catholic values & teachings. This parish was right to pull the plug on this GS troop. I pray for you that you & your wife will do the same. There are many more suitable options available including the American Heritage Girls (Christian) and my favorite, the Little Flowers.
Now you need to ban parishioners employees and others who attend Catholic colleges and Universities like Georgetown and Notre Dame that have direct ties to PP. No more Georgetown sweatshirts in the parish, please.
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/apr/13/150-catholic-colleges-have-ties-to-planned-parenth/
And get to work on identifying and banning those parishioners who work for corporations and nonprofits that have any ties or association with PP.
http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/12/pro-life-group-lists-companies-backing-planned-parenthood/
Get rid of any teacher who belongs to the NEA and check every other parishioner who belongs to a union, too- all have ties to PP
And while you're at it- how about a parish purge of all registered democrats and anyone who donates to the DNC or any democrat organization. The party of abortion.
My point being, Girl Scouts has no more “ties” to planned parenthood nor deserves the outrage against us than tens of thousands of organizations and corporations and nonprofit institutions that many posters here do support.
Ever give money to the Red Cross? Drop money on the Salvation Army kettle? You support Planned Parenthood.
Pay federal taxes? You support PP.
Would these self-righeous priests give communion to a democrat politician?? Allow Mr post-birth abortion defender OBAMA bumper stickers on parishioner cars?
Where does it end?
I grew up in Dunwoody and I now live in a very similar suburb of DC... I feel like I’ve spent my life trying to escape the manicure and tennis lifestyle. I want to live in the country with a huge veggie garden and horses, chickens, and perhaps a pair of sheep. Oh you should have seen my neighbors when I put in a veggie garden here... “you are going to grow food?! And actually eat it?!” LOL
I feel blessed to have gotten to live in the sticks in between these two homes...I know that the real world is out there. I just have to find my way back to it.
I have not given to the Red Double Cross since the scandal broke after 9ll. Now I don’t give to the Salvation Army.
What is one more organization?
They either straiten up and fly right or else no money from me. I have no bad feelings about telling them so either.
A very worthy cause, if you ask me.
She’s just great and, though she may not be the best interviewer, and certainly not bad, she has the best guests. It has been the most important show on TV because she seeks the truth, and not just her version of it. She’s like a very good friend.

Her radio show, daily, I don’t know the name of it.
I always refer people to her, as she can give contact info for problematic issues such as the one now in question.
she has had shows on all of the pertinent issues of the day.

That’s called rationalizing bad behavior.
Thanks FishinTX. I have no problem what so ever with the church that didn’t want to allow GS meetings in their buildings anymore. I just know, at least in our community and area, the cookie sales directly help our girls with summer camp and other activities they do. Also, our troop does go camping and conducts day camps for smaller kids in the summer.
I mentioned the Boy Scouts and Levi’s just wondering how many others boycotted or are still boycotting that company for pulling funding from the BSA?
