It's nice to see the GOP is leearning how to do politics. If Obama doesn't want the working class vote, the GOP must learn to go after the working class vote beyond social conservatives, not that try much there.

I hope this doesn’t sound stupid, but, can anyone tell me WHY 0bama has to approve this, and WHEN did it become necessary for a president to approve something like this? Did the president always have to approve oil wells being drilled when oil companies or individual speculators bought land or drilling rights and drilled for oil? Thanks.

Obama has a say if the pipelines cross a border into Canada or Mexico. If they are strictly domestic, he doesn't.

When did it become necessary to get "permission" from ANY president to do anything other than go to war with another country?

Even then he has to get approval from Congress, but lately even that doesn't seem to matter.

If they decide to start building it what's he gonna do? Give them a stern warning? Pfft...this guy is such a pussy he'd back down if you raised a voice to him.

As part of the bil to extend the payroll cut Congress added in a requirment that 0dumbo had 60 days to decide whether to approve the KL or not( congress had approved it)
Odumbo had until IIRC Fed03 to announce his decision.

he took a really chickenchit way out.

I coulnd’t be happier than TransCanada and the GOP figured out a way around the vile lying POS.

Somebody on a blog, for conservatives, had a map of the “sensative aquafier” it has dozens of pipelines crossing it. Hope the GOP gets that picture out and shames the enviroRATS in congress and their failing leader at 1600 Penn AVE.

Still...the question is this: How, under what authority, does the President of the United States have any sort of approval authority on issues of this nature? The international treaty issues require advice and consent, and there is no authority for his/her Yea or Nay on a purely domestic project.

This is but another example of this illegitimate bastard overreaching the authority of the office to which he pretends.

And, it appears the pubbies are complicit.

Time to take back the country. Every day we put it off makes the recovery more difficult and painful.

Not really, they are just trying to look like they have learned something, to keep you from learning the truth.

They could have forced the issue when they let him raise the debt ceiling, curious as to why they didn't, huh?

The chairman of the committee, the curly bulb lover, will do nothing. Ask yourself why Boehner let him take the chair of that committee?

Seek ye the Executive orders in effect...

thackney's reply (thanks thackney)

All Mr. Dunham did was approve "Shrillary's!" decision.

"This announcement is not a judgment on the merits of the pipeline, but an arbitrary nature of a deadline that prevented the State Department from gathering the information necessary to approve the project," said Clinton.

It is all about the imposed deadline, not the pipeline. "Somebody" didn't take kindly to being told to "defecate or get off the pot" and stop turning this into a political ploy for votes.

As expected, the Republican majority got nothing in return for the debt limit increase, though they will not admit that. They didn’t even get much political capital, since the Administration came up with reasonable-sounding reasons that will fool most independents. Now the Republicans are planning to go through the same illusion again to try to convince their constituents that they are accomplishing something. Unless they give away the farm as a concession, the pipeline will need to await a Republican President. Obama has too much at stake protecting Hugo Chavez’s market for Venezuelan heavy crude.

Forget the immediate aspect of jobs now. By killing the Keystone XL pipeline, Obama just told the Jacksonian Democrats and working class whites that Obama doesn't want their votes!

Now the Republicans are planning to go through the same illusion again to try to convince their constituents that they are accomplishing something.

With The White House, the lame stream media and the Senate against them, the House of Representatives had little hope of more than stopping the left, much less getting anything conservative done.
