Odd and unfortunate. Croatia is a pretty country in many ways. Other than economics, I wouldn’t see a good reason to emigrate away from there. The war is over.
The people, however, are frustrated. Or, at least they were in the early 90’s when I was last there. It was a bit funny to listen to them lament the fact that the UN (actually the US) was “holding them back” from kicking Serbian ass. The truth is, it would’ve turned out quite the opposite. They would have been crushed.
They definitely have heart, like a chihuahua barking at a pit bull. All balls, no sense. I can’t beleive they’d cave into being just another part of a larger block, especially after their recent history. I hope they vote no.
