Gingrich: I'd like Palin in my administration
Politico ^ | 1-18-12 | Haberson

Posted on 01/18/2012 2:13:41 PM PST by VinL

In an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer, Newt Gingrich described Sarah Palin's comments about how she would vote for him if she lived in South Carolina as an "endorsement," and said he'd ask her to join a Gingrich administration:

"Governor Palin is somebody who I think was a very good reform governor. She was extraordinarily effective negotiating with big oil. She did a good job in the state of Alaska. I think she’s a very articulate leader of the Tea Party conservative movement. I was honored and delighted last night when she said if she were in South Carolina, she’d vote for Newt Gingrich. I hope everybody who likes her decides she’s right. And I hope they vote for me.

"Certainly, she’s one of the people I’d call on for advice. I would ask her to consider taking a major role in the next administration if I’m president, but nothing has been discussed of any kind. And it wouldn’t be appropriate to discuss it at this time.

"I’m just delighted that she and Todd have been both of them so supportive of my candidacy. And they recognize that, you know, I’m a Tea Party Reform conservative. I’m not part of the Washington establishment. And I think that’s the signal that her endorsement last night really sends."

She would make an excellent final Secretary of Energy.

Somebody has to make the sandwiches I guess.

I’d be worried that she would get all the sandwich stuff out and then walk away halfway through.

The third Mrs. Newt may not concur.

She would make an excellent Secretary of anything....the woman has common sense, something dearly lacking in the entire current fiasco.

I hope she gets to speak at the convention

At this point Santorum is only in the race so that he can get several cable news 'contributor' gigs on cable tv

Much the same way Herman Cain had from the beginning

We've just cast our early ballots for Newt here in Florida

He ought to name Perry as VP and let Perry and Palin take charge of returning rights to the states. Name Palin energy secretary or some other interior office. The sooner he gets her on board, the better. If Next continued to show himself the way he did earlier this week, we need to rally behind him - regardless of his flaws, he fundamentally agrees with our positions. If he’s playing politics and taking different stands to accomplish goals he’s someone I trust to push the country’s administration further to the right than when he arrived and that’s a win we need right now.

Been saying it for a while. Sec Energy until 2014- resign- beat the punk that took Stevens Senate seat in 2014— consider her options after that-—

Assuming Sarah wants a poltical future in Washington, if Romeny wins- she has none. Romney tanked her in 2008. Create and ride the wave with Newt- they both will be advantaged.

Put her in a dual role as the Secretary of Energy and the Head of the EPA. That would make some liberal heads explode.

Excellent - she could be the “Secretary of Doing Things Halfway and then Quitting”.

or else she could be the new CZAR of “I am the only one that can solve the countries problems but I am not going to bother to run”.

She would indeed! Secy Palin....and especially after Bambi’s ridiculous decision on the pipeline today. We need somebody tough who could reverse this and get things moving again.

I think Sarah’s backing Newt is good, but let’s be honest here also. Keeping the primary going is good for the candidates and the party. Exposing the candidates in a lengthy primary honed them and makes them better.

We’ve seen the best of Newt and the worst of him. He’s worse when he goes negative. I think winning positive makes us all feel good about him.

I don’t like him asking the others to drop out. Have others do that. Ask people to vote for him, but asking the others to drop out is arrogant and makes him look petty.

At some point we unite, and we coalesce.

Incorrect.

Remember, she field dresses the moose before it goes to the sandwich counter. That’s not walking out.

You don’t favor Sarah Palin? You need not answer, but I’m oalways curious as to the rationale to posters’ views.

I’d rather see her wait and go after that b**ch Lisa Murkowski in 2016.
