Could we at least have a few primaries where only Republicans can vote in the Republican Primary before someone is anointed? And maybe a few that aren't held in mini-states?

Florida's primary is January 31. It is a closed primary (only registered Republicans can vote), and FL is the third largest states (and the largest swing state).
As of last week, over 400,000 FL Republicans have already cast their ballots by mail.

Open primaries has to be taken up at your precinct convention following the Tuesday primary elections. Be there and get it drafted for the county convention, and then from the county convention to the state party convention.
