I don’t believe he raised taxes , he just didn’t lower them . He was a deficit cutter for sure .
At the end of Eisenhower’s reign some taxes were in the 90th percentile. That’s when Goldwater and Ronald Reagan came on the scene to try to stop the madness. Again, I think, with a few exceptions, the GOP basically “went along for the political ride” in the 20th Century, offering little resistance to the relentless anti-American Leftist (”Progressive”) movement embodied in the Democratic Party.
