It does seem unbelieveable that you would let your son sit in a notorious prison for four months where you just know he was in isolation, losing weight on a horrid diet, and probably being tortured - and not ask for help from the US government whom he served well.
How do you know that they did not ask for help from the US government? Would not surprise me if they did ask for help.
