With many promises of support there is always lot more said then done. With a weak president in the White House a little saber rattling is a smart move for the Russians they need oil just like everybody else does. This is a game the Russians know well, they are masters at chess and positioning themselves to an advantage.
Oh, I know what: Our Appeaser in Chief will no doubt react to this "warning" by trying to find something else of value (like some more of our Secrets maybe?) to pass on to the (CONTINUED) "Evil Empire" in an effort to mollify the despot and gangsta thug Putin (birds of a feather, both are, the difference being Putin actually has a "pair") in the hopes he will back off, but fair warning, Russia has never been our friend and never will be, the same as ANY Islamic controlled country.

I doubt that they will waste Russian blood and treasure on the Iranian mullahs. Iran financed the Chechens who have killed thousands of Russians, blowing up subways and apartment buildings in Moscow, suicide bombings of aircraft and train stations, and the elementary school massacre on Sept 1, 2004.
Putin is just playing both ends against the middle, as he always has. Mostly it’s a win-win for Russia, but on occasion they fall hard because of it. Like the elementary school massacre.

Honest question: if and when Iran gets the nuke, where will they bomb Israel? Jerusalem is also a muslim holy site. They will want to avoid that. The size of Israel seems to limit the number of plausible targets unless Iran sees damage to Israel’s neighbors as acceptable.

Iran is an important partner for Russia. For example, a huge order for their new superjet aircraft. Iran, Venezuela and others are strategic potential customers for a resurgent russian industry. Russia has to protect its market.
