LIVE Spartanburg County Republican Party & Greenville County Republican Party 6:20PM 1/13/12
C-Span Video Library ^

Posted on 01/15/2012 5:09:44 AM PST by nikos1121

Hey, Good Morning, My Friends.

If you haven't seen this video, a Q & A of Newt, (followed by Santorum) at a S.C. High School, then pour yourself another cup of coffee...grab the nearest and dearest person or animal next to you to sit close, and watch this:

http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/303686-1

We should post this again and again until the message resonates.

Newt speaks for around 33 minutes. In that time, not one vocalized pause when he's answering the question. No prepared text. NO TELEPROMPTOR.

AS it's been so many many times for those of us here, HIs message is clear, focused and articulates what all of us believe.

Let me repeat, "His message is clear, focused and articulates what ALL of us her on FR believe."

He takes only a handful of questions, but each is provocative and far ranging in what it allows him to say.

Think about the other candidates when you listen to Newt's answers. No one else can answer this way. No presidential candidate in my lifetime has this much command of the big picture.

FRIENDS EVERY TIME NEWT SPEAKS IT'S A TEACHING MOMENT.

Just when you think there is nothing more interesting he can say or for us to learn by, he takes us back to Jefferson, Jackson, Lincoln and FDR on checks and balancing of our judiciary, then brings it all into the present.

BUT IT'S NOT UNTIL WE GET TO AROUND 23 MINUTES OR SO INTO THE TAPE, WHEN THE QUESTION IS ASKED OF HIM..."IN YOUR OPINION, DESCRIBE FOR US YOUR IDEA OF THE AMERICAN DREAM."

I HAD TEARS STREAMING DOWN MY FACE LISTENING TO HIS RESPONSE, AND THIS HASN'T BEEN THE FIRST TIME.

Please, Folks, I know that you may have deep support for Rick Santorum, Perry...(maybe even resolving yourself to Romney), but PLEASE give this man a chance.

PLEASE before you dismiss him for this reason or that reason...listen to his message. What he says, the solutions he gives...involves ALL Americans, not just the right...ALL of us.

IN FACT, WHAT HE SAYS CAN UNITE THE WHOLE WORLD.

Those of you here who supported Newt early on but now have doubts about him, GIVE HIM ANOTHER CHANCE TO WIN YOU OVER.

In my heart, I cannot believe that people like Ann Coulter, Rush, Hannity etc. are not seeing this. What Newt says MUST ring in their hearts too. Why aren't they backing him? WHY??????

Sarah, if you're out there...PLEASE WATCH THIS AND GET ON BOARD FOR NEWT.

FELLOW FREEPERS PLEASE LISTEN TO THIS AND PASS IT ON.

no surprise, he has spent his adult lifetime behind a podium and microphone. The question is: Can he govern a great nation?

Thank you for posting this!!!! I feel like there are many many others of us out there who feel the same way.

I have a question though.

What should NEWT do if he barely loses SC, then Rick Perry bows out of the race, then NEWT barely loses FL and Santorum bows out of the race?

I’m saying he stays in it until he’s toe to toe with Romney and then all can see the difference between the men.

Newt does not need to go negative with anyone...He just needs to stay on message, but the message has been diluted because you have four or five other candidates out there, the media and the republican establishment all going against him.

Did you watch the video?

There is not doubt he can, and in fact I have sent in this question many times, but no one takes it up to him:

“Newt, everyone knows you’re the smartest one in the room, but can a History professor lead this country and the world?”

I think his answer would draw from his experience that conservative principles work, and that he would also draw from the wide experiences of our founding fathers, and from other presidencies.

NEWT HAS DONE IT BEFORE. NONE OF THE OTHER CANDIDATES CAN SAY THIS.

Also, AND THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION. We need a solid conservative candidate that can articulate clearly the differences between Obama’s Saul Alinsky’s ideas and his own vs a moderate who message will be muddled and not clear.

I agree with what you're saying—that he should stay in it until such time as he can draw a real contrast between himself and the Romney establishment. Then, I think he has a solid chance at winning. It's really unfortunate IMO that there are so many candidates still in this, because like you said, it just dilutes the message and I've been frustrated as hell about this.

I watched the event yesterday live and again last night.

Until then I vacillated between Newt and Santorum.

Newt held the crowd in the palm of hand.

Santorum said all the right things.

Newt is the leader.

Newt will do what the personalities of Romney and Santorum do not allow them to do. Give Newt the nomination and he will grab the Kenyan by his Marxist throat and never stop squeezing.

People like you make me feel better. Much better. God bless you!

We have great people in the race, any one of them can beat Obama, but we can’t afford another learning curve presidency, plus Romney is a clear compromiser. He will try and try to appease and schmooze the Harry Reid’s out there.

Newt goes in running.

If Perry, Santorum, Cain, Palin, Trump etc etc along with the people already with him like Thomas Sowell, Laffler etc... Newt will get the nomination and win.

But not just that. It will be a huge reset for our young people and those coming here. It will renew the message of 200+ years ago, when we became a nation.

The Republican Leadership, and I mean the RINO’s who run the party do not want Newt. They want Romney.

Newt is too smart for them, and Romney is one of them, A Rino. More Democrat than Republican.Romney really should be running in the Democrat primary against Obama.

That would be because Newt is a teacher by profession. However, his teaching abilities do not translate to leadership abilities. (See: Lecturer Baraq Obama)

Yup. It makes me sick seeing that they do everything they can to bash Newt in order to ensure Romney. Them, plus their accomplices in the so-called 'conservative media' like Fox News, Ann Coulter, Glenn Beck, so on and on.

Newt's message is the truth, and it's needed now more than ever. Yet I fear we've degenerated into Idiocracy so much, that too many can no longer hear the words.

I watched this yesterday. The most inspiring minutes of the forum occur near the end:
You've been told this many times in the past. As Republicans you're constantly told, "Well, you can't really have what you really want because, you know, if you put a real strong conservative up there, across the board on national security and on moral/cultural issues and on economic and spending issues then we'll have a hard time winning. And we need to win."

And who's saying that to you? People who don't share your values. And they want you to compromise your values so they can have their values represented on a national ticket. Don't defer your judgment!

---snip---

I find it really incredible that, and I hear this a lot, and legitimately so, where people say to candidates running for office, "Why do you compromise?" Why do you compromise?" Why do you compromise on this or that?" "Why don't you stand for your pinciples?"

Why don't YOU stand for your principles?

You want your leaders to lead? Lead them!

Watch the entire 6 minutes here.

Yes!!!! YOu are spot on.

What really gripes the hell out of me, is that people like Rush and Hannity and Coulter and Levin and all those other fair weather phonies have been saying this very thing...and now we have a candidate who articulates these ideas BETTER than anyone ever has, and WHERE ARE THEY? They’re skirting for Romney....

I know Santorum is saying this, and he’s a good man, but he cannot get the job done. Sorry, maybe as a VP or some other office but not the president. Sorry, Santorum has not paid his dues. He will in the end compromise.

“Why don’t YOU stand for your principles?”

Sorry, it’s one thing to have some tag line in your campaign, but there are sheep out there who like turds in the ocean couldn’t describe their principles if their life depended on them. That, in it’s purest and best sense, is why we have politicians. They articulate these things for us. Unfortunately they are seldom clear.

This time things are quite clear. You have Obama on the left, Romney in the middle and Newt on the right.

Oh, and one more thing. So here we are in SC and who does Santorum go after? Newt.

Ok, so he’ll probably get a little bump, which means he’ll still be carrying himself in that arthritic looking sweater vest that my grandfather used to wear, down to Florida where he’ll split the votes again.

“Newt, I’m talking to you. Stay in the race. Stay in until it’s just you and Mittens.”
