With 17-term Republican Rep. Jerry Lewis of San Bernardino announcing his retirement Thursday, following retirements of two GOP veterans this week, California's huge Congressional delegation could see its biggest shakeup in two decades.

The state's new map of congressional districts, drawn by a 14-member citizen redistricting commission, is expected to yield more open seats, more competitive elections and possibly three to five new Democrats in the House, reflecting California's long-term trend toward the Democratic Party.

Democrats being Democrats-remaining in a state of delusion!

Ignore the fact that the GOP will also pick up seats due to reapportionment.

However pathetic the current system is, it is better than the previous system.

And yes the referendum process is bankrupt as well.

Everything that the "people" try to do to rein in the politicians ultimately gets co-opted by the politicians.

We're all doomed ... or maybe not ...

We're all doomed
