My daughter had a kid like this in her school, and every day it was "Guess what Jonathan (not his real name... okay yes it is) did today".
Fortunately, I send my kids to a parochial school, and the kid was kicked out.
What was really odd, though, was after he was kicked out, he went to a special needs school where... HIS MOTHER WAS A TEACHER!!!
I think the government forced the issue...and schools get more money the more disabled kids they enrole. One of the reasons teachers are so quick to label a kid as having ADD or such is that also brings in more money to the school..more poor kids on school lunch programs equals more money also.....etc. etc. etc......
I agree with you.I have an online friend who is a special ed teacher and has been for about 30 years.Over the past 10 or more years she says that she has went from being able to teach kids who could be taught to being forced to spend the same amount of time each day with kids who basically have the intellect of an infant and their parents expect her to teach them something. She calls herself an overly paid babysitter since 70% of her day is now wasted on kids that will never be able to hold a pencil let alone be able to recognize a letter or write it.
