Not so sure about that - I seem to recall Henry Ford expressing pretty much the same sentiments at various times in his rather capitalistic career.

No mr ford said he paid his employees enough so they could afford to buy his cars. And in a world where the car was a new thing, ownership drove sales. Not even close to newt.
